Our Team

Meet the on-site team that has been building better lifestyles in the Wellington area or over 20 years!

Brent, Owner

Introducing Capital Builders Owner, Brent Sarten!

Brent initially started his professional career as an accountant, but during a home renovation project he realised building was his true calling.

Now, after running Capital Builders for 23 years, Brent leads a team of six, working on some of the grandest period homes across the greater Wellington area.

Brent’s also a keen beer brewer and gin distiller!

Cam, Senior Foreman

Introducing Capital Builders’ Senior Foreman, Cam!

Cam has been building since he was 18, working on both residential housing and commercial projects. One recent highlight involved propping an original home to allow for earthworks for a complex extension below, with a courtyard roof.

With 40 years of experience behind him, Cam now organises the Capital Builders  team’s day-to-day jobs on site, and liaises with both the subbies and clients.

Cam thrives working on challenging renovation projects and detailed jobs, and you can really count on him when the pressure is on. He loves being able to suggest problem-solving solutions and design ideas, and the clients love them too!

Cam’s ‘happy place’ is when he’s doing his gardening at home in Silversteam.

Jarrod, Apprentice

Introducing Capital Builders’ Apprentice, Jarrod!

Before starting his apprenticeship with CB a couple of years ago, Jarrod went through basic training with the army. But he knew that it wasn’t quite right for him, and that he really wanted to follow in his old man’s footsteps and become a builder.

Jarrod really enjoys working under the big boss, Brent, and he loves anything and everything demo: “As a big man I can get through a lot of stuff pretty easily. It’s always a bit of fun – and a great way to blow off some steam!”

At home, he likes getting stuck into his gardening and, believe it or not, even building his own computers!

Mitchell, Apprentice

Introducing Capital Builders’ Apprentice, Mitchell!

Mitchell is well into his apprenticeship after starting at CB a couple years ago. Before building, Mitchell cheffed for about 5 years at Ortega Fish Shack in town (you may have heard of it), but was keen for a new challenge. He reached out to his family friend, our Senior Foreman Cam, and was taken on by Brent soon after!

At work, Mitchell loves projects that require a lot of thinking and detailed finishing. “The jobs that look really good when they’re finished are very satisfying!” He also likes the relationships and opportunities he gets from working in a smaller, tight-knit team like CB.

Outside of his apprenticeship, Mitchell still enjoys cheffing the occasional shift at Ortega, and chilling out to recover from a challenging week’s work!
